In Search Of The Brown Note
X-Bax is a collaoration between Phil Dole, a Chicago-based noise performance artist, and iGod.
In Search Of The Brown Note
examines the world of frequencies, and in particularly low-end frequencies. Not music in the traditional sense, but very much in line with sonic experimentalism. The "brown note" refered to is the legendary fequency that when (supposedly) played at sufficient volume, the listener loses muscular control of their bowels. Urban legend? Perhaps, but since the compact disc format cannot reproduce the frequency in question, the question cannot be proved with this recording. You might want to think twice about attending a live show...
The highligh of the disc is the 32+ minutes long "Electrolog (Second Movement)" which features a slowly evolving frequency pattern (apparently made with guitars) that is wonderfully hypnotic and leaves the listener feeling refreshed upon completion.
